High somatic cell count

The somatic cell count of cow’s milk stands for the number of cells per millilitre (ml) of milk. These cells consist largely of white blood cells and a small proportion of epithelial cells. The somatic cell count of the milk immediately after calving is high. After an inflammatory reaction in the milk gland the somatic cell count will rise as a result of an inflow of white blood cells.

Threshold values are:

Healthy udder
<100,000 cells per ml

Suspected udder
>100,000 cells per ml

At least one inflamed quarter

>150,000 cells per ml in a heifer
>250,000 cells per ml in a cow

A somatic cell count relates to more than just the number of cells: the age of the cow, the production level and the stage of lactation also have an effect on the somatic cell count.

To boost udder vitality and resistance.

The Udder-Vital Bolus is a supplementary animal feed (mineral feed) to boost the animal’s udder vitality and general resistance. The bolus has been developed to provide many beneficial health effects and has broad applicability. It also helps to reduce the use of antibiotics.

The Udder-Vital Bolus can be used for weak animals, animals with somatic cell count problems, and during the transition period (during dry-off periods and when milking restarts). Good resistance will prevent many problems. The Udder-Vital Bolus is a slow release bolus over a period of approximately 7 days. The bolus requires no waiting time before milk and meat can be delivered for consumption.

Flash Bolus

The Flash Bolus is a supplementary animal feed (mineral feed). It has been developed to boost disease resistance and body condition. It contains a mix of carefully selected herbal extracts, prebiotics and vitamins.

  • Flash Bolus

    To boost udder health

The Flash Bolus is a supplementary animal feed (mineral feed), developed to support problems with udder health. The bolus contains a mix of carefully selected herbal extracts, prebiotics and vitamins. Weaker animals or animals that are under stress (for example, around the time of calving) run an increased risk of infections, udder problems and reduced milk production. It is essential that the animal is kept in optimal condition. The Flash bolus naturally boosts the udder health of the cow. This bolus requires no waiting time before milk and meat consumption.
